I just want to kill! (kill -9 that is)

Why can't I kill -9 Finder.app?

I guess now I have to restart the computer and hope that my open encrypted volume doesn't get damaged if I don't eject it. I wonder if it's possible to eject it via the command line.

I also hope my USB is still okay. That's what started all this in the first place: I couldn't eject it, for some unfathomable reason, and I ended up pulling it out when I had to go. I still have the Force Eject dialog on the screen.

EDIT: I have since ejected the volume in Disk Utility. But I still resent that I have to shut everything down and restart just to get the Finder back.
