And all I want to do is change one word in a PDF...
I get the impression that the port install process of MacPorts gets niced down to bugger all, as this installation is taking forever! Over 30 mins so far to install a dependency, just so I can attempt installation of PDFedit, which may or may not work.

% sudo make install

make: *** No rule to make target `Makefile.rules'. Stop.

Whoops. Gotta run ./configure first.

Damn. That didn't work, either. Seems Qt3 libraries aren't installed.

It couldn't be clearer why Mac apps are self-contained packages.

That's it. I give up.

checking for RANDR... configure: error: Package requirements (x11 randrproto >= 1.3 xext xextproto xrender renderproto) were not met:

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables RANDR_CFLAGS
and RANDR_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.
