Hardware sucks

Since computer upgrades are not expected for some time at work, I bought a cheap (but decent) LCD monitor to give me more screen space. I used it successfully at home over the holidays, but...

Now I've plugged it into my work computer and it's no good. Extreme flickering. Not just slow refresh-rate flicker, but headache-inducing lines shaking back and forth severely.

Sigh. I suspect the lousy graphics chip in this old machine is just not up to it.

You should be able the change the refresh rate under: Display->Settings->Advanced->Monitor if you're using XP. :D

I'll check again tomorrow, but when I looked today, 60 Hz was the only option on offer. And I haven't seen anything to suggest that a 60 Hz refresh rate on an LCD monitor hould result in such severe distortion.
