DNG, Capture One and Colour

Do you ever wish that God had invented a single, comphrensive colour profile at the dawn of digital photography and that it had been honoured by hardware and software everywhere?

I've been reasonably nonchalant about colour profiles to this point. I'm happy enough with sRGB for my output, which is usually online anyway. And for input, I've just accepted the inbuilt camera profile.

But now I'm considering converting my raw files to DNG. And whilst the conversion may be lossless, I get a different colour profile (and temperature!) on the DNG copy.

So, it would appear that I now have to wade into the mirky waters known as colour management. Wish me luck...
