Porn story idea + collaborative writing

Porn story

I sometimes get the urge to write, which is not a good thing, as a writer I am not. I lack the stamina and the style.

Today's story idea was for a porn film, which is interesting, given my very limited exposure to porn films. Do I...

* Just write down the concept and be done with it, since that is better than starting something bigger and giving up?

* Flesh it out a little and post a bit at a time to LJ, following the lead of neefsck who has been writing a sci-fi thriller?

* Write it as a short story and post to a more appropriate place, such as ASSTR?

* Write the first scene on a wiki page and invite people to expand/edit/remix?

Not so porn

Speaking of wikis, I've been toying with the idea of starting a "choose your own adventure" style story on a wiki. "You reach what appears to be a dead end, but you see a light above. Do you: [[FightDragon | stay and fight the dragon]], or [[Climb | climb towards the light]]?"

Note to self - read some more background info first:

Audition Notice: One Acts 2005

Do you know someone who likes to act? Want to get up on stage yourself? Come and audition!

Homegrown @ Hartwell: One Act Plays

* Open auditions: Sunday May 22nd - 2.00pm
* Where: Ashwood College, Vannam Dve, Ashwood
* What: Lots of roles, both male and female, all ages.

In particular, I want to see good numbers at the auditions so I don't have a struggle to get a cast, like last year... The play I'm directing is:

A Million Monkeys by Colin Donald

* Characters: 2 males, 1 female, all 20s or maybe 30s.
* Accents: The female actor plays two identical characters, one American and the other Australian.

Two brothers, two hemispheres. Sensitive, slightly awkward Graeme keeps in touch with his more self-assured brother Calvin, who has moved to California to explore the more risqué side of his photography career. They talk about life, work and their relationships with women. Calvin loves women and beauty, but feels a relationship's place is the bedroom, which causes tension between him and Brandy, who wants more than just sex.

Graeme has also found someone: Sherry, who is identical to Brandy but unrelated (doppelgangers). Thanks to the different personalities of the brothers, we see these two relationships develop and take divergent paths.

Meme: vulnerability in songs

A while back, I wrote about songs that affect me. I've since figured out what most appeals to me about some of these songs: songwriters writing very personal stories from their own lives. There's something vulnerable about it, and that leads to a more powerful song.

Meme: list three songs, each by a different artist, in which he/she shares something deeply personal and affecting. Also explain how its story is personal to the songwriter.

My three (one of which also appeared in the earlier meme):

Emotionless by Good Charlotte

Personal story: Joel and Benji Madden let us in on their feelings about their father leaving. Further notes under earlier meme.

Mockingbird by Eminem

Personal Story: While not previously a hip-hop fan, and although his world and views are different to mine, I bought and loved his album, The Eminem Show. Some people saw a misogynist, but I felt the songs showed where his views on women came from. Most of all, I saw a father with great love for his daughter. I haven't heard the latest album, but Mockingbird divulges even more about the life of Marshall Mathers, and builds upon the personal story laid out in songs like Cleanin Out My Closet and Hailie's Song.

Ana's Song by silverchair

Personal Story: Daniel Johns' ode to his struggle with anorexia and the hold it had on him. This one was suggested by Deborah after I said I was looking for songs that are not only touching/affecting, but also personal to the songwriter. It uses metaphor in almost every line, likening Ana/anorexia to a destructive girlfriend that he still needs somehow. To not only write about your mental illness, but to sing it to the world must be very difficult, and it shows great strength. I wonder if he ever found it triggering to sing about something he was trying to battle.

PS. What is it with people and groups using lowercase names?
