Trials and tribulations of Tropfest

Copyright is a lovely thing in theory, but a pain in the arse when it comes to film production. Moral rights are even more gruelling.

For my Tropfest entry, I want to use a calendar and/or poster with photos of hot male models. You'd think that would be easy enough, but you have to have release forms for any artistic works used in the film. Sigh.

Calendar companies probably don't want to be bothered with requests like "a scene in a 5 minute film shows your calendar on a wall - is that okay?" If I'm lucky, they'll actually respond. If I'm unlucky, I'll have to try and take photos myself; but I'm fresh out of hot male models.

Worse, the script calls for a Playboy or similar magazine. Do I really have to get a release form to use a product?
